Galaxies Logic Puzzle: Polus
Every star, its own galaxy
Galaxies (Tentai Show) puzzles: draw the borders, split the grid into galaxies.
The rules
- Draw lines along the grid to cut the board into fields. Every field has exactly one star in it.
- A field is balanced around its star: for every square in it, the square straight across the star — the same distance away — is in it too.
- A field is one connected piece, and at the end every square on the board lies in exactly one field.
How to play here
Tap a grid line to draw a border there, and tap it again to rub it out. Run a finger along the grid to draw or rub out a whole run at once.

About the game
Polus is a dedicated Galaxies puzzle — also published as Tentai Show or Spiral Galaxies — for players who want a board they can think their way through rather than poke at.
The rules take one minute
- The grid is scattered with stars.
- Draw lines along the grid to cut the board into galaxies.
- Every galaxy holds exactly one star, and is balanced around it: for every square in it, the square straight across the star — the same distance away — is in it too.
- Every square ends up in exactly one galaxy. None is left over.
That is all of it. A star can sit in the middle of a square, on the line between two, or on the corner where four meet — and that is the whole difficulty.
Exactly one solution
Every puzzle here is proven to have exactly one solution. The generator rates each board by the hardest step it actually needs, so the difficulty bands mean something. The hint button shows the next move and why it follows.
Pencil and paper, on glass
You draw the borders, the way the puzzle is printed: no colours, no filling squares in. Tap a grid line to draw a border, tap it again to rub it out, or run a finger along the grid to draw a whole run at once. A galaxy fills in once it is finished — one star inside it, balanced.

Common questions
Is Polus free?

Where is my progress saved?
In this browser, on this device. If you clear the site data, your progress goes with it. A free Solvarium account keeps it safe.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in any current browser on phones, tablets and computers, and the board resizes to fit the screen.
Does every puzzle really have one solution?
Yes. Every board goes through a solver before it ships, and anything with more than one solution is thrown out.
Is there a Polus app?
Yes, on Google Play for Android. The app works offline, can remind you about the daily puzzle and collects achievements in Google Play Games.
